Smooth Fitness have been in the business of making fitness equipment for over 25 years and were one of the first to sell their products on the internet back in 1996. They have a track record of making quality equipment that’s easy to use, stands the test of time and using the latest technologies and design. This Smooth CE 3.0DS elliptical is a good example of this and represents great value for an entry level elliptical.

It comes with 16 levels of resistance which are applied to the ride magnetically. This makes any change you make is smooth and true. The 16 levels means you can choose to have a gentle climb at the lower levels or choose a tough hill at the higher levels. This will of course work your legs, thighs and buttocks faster. The handlebars are there for the upper body so you’re getting a total body workout.

There are 16 workout programs which is plenty and most can be tailored to suit your own personal fitness level so you can make them as hard or as easy as you like. There are 6 preset programs which are customizable and these will help burn calories and tone the legs, thighs and buttocks depending on the intensity you choose. There is the manual program if you like to change the settings on the fly as you ride allowing you to experiment.

There are 4 heart rate programs that are used with the included wireless heart rate chest strap. The trainer calculates your optimum working heart rate using your age, gender, height and weight. It will then take you through the heart rate program routine which consists of a warm up, the main program and then a cool down. This is all based on your ideal heart rate and is a very effective way of exercising.

Finally there are 4 custom programs which allow you to program your own routine and modify these as your fitness improves. This elliptical can also provide you a body fat measurement based on your height and weight. The number given is your body mass index which will tell you if you’re underweight, normal, overweight or obese.
