The brand LifeCore Fitness has been around for over 15 years. They started with a fitness equipment showroom selling just to their local customers. Over time they learned what their customers really wanted and started making their own fitness equipment which is what they still do today. Over the years they’ve stayed at the forefront of exercise equipment technology and this has led to the LifeCore VST-V8 elliptical.
There is 16 levels of resistance which are applied magnetically so there are no components rubbing together to generate the friction. The low levels are good for beginners or those trying to lose weight by riding for longer periods of time. The higher levels will tone the legs, thighs and buttocks and will give a tougher challenge. These can all be selected at the push of a button from the console.
There are a total of 18 workout programs. These begin with 12 preset programs which are routines that change the resistance in valleys and hills for you to navigate. Another program is the create your own which you can do from the programmable console. There is also a watt program, the watt is a measurement of how hard you’re exercising. This program aims to keep you at the best level decided by you.
Then there are 4 heart rate control programs. These use the heart rate sensors in the handlebars and their aim is to keep your heart rate beating at a certain level while you ride. The levels are 55%, 75% and 90% of your maximum heart rate. The maximum is calculated using your age and gender. This is worth trying as it’s one of the most effective ways of exercising in the shortest amount of time.
The console has memory for 4 different users so the whole family can get a good workout. There is a water bottle holder and no doubt many will balance a magazine or book on the console to read while exercising. The footpads are cushioned and close together so you get the perfect natural stride. All this makes the LifeCore VST-V8 an impressive elliptical that should give years of workout pleasure.

LifeCore Fitness started in the fitness industry by having a retail showroom 15 years ago. It was shortly after this that they started making their own equipment. They used the experience of a showroom to their advantage by carefully listening to what their customers really wanted from their exercise equipment. They’ve used this knowledge in the LifeCore LC1050RBs recumbent bike as it has many useful features.
A recumbent bike is a very popular machine for exercising. Exercising in a sitting down position is easy to do. Being able to easily read a magazine or book resting on the console is a common sight in many gyms and health clubs. This LifeCore recumbent bike has the features you see in those commercial bikes and more. The console has all the readings you need including speed, distance, calories, watts, time and more.
There are 16 levels of resistance easily controllable from the console at the touch of a button. The lower levels are good for long distance riding where perhaps you want to burn the most calories in an effective way. The higher levels are good for toning and shaping the legs, thighs and buttocks. There are 12 preset programs which can adjust the resistance for you in predetermined patterns. You can see pictures of these patterns on the console so you’ll know what to expect.
There are 4 heart rate programs. These programs use the heart rate sensors on the handlebars and adjust the resistance to keep your heart rate at a percentage of the maximum. One of them is 55% which they call the diet program, 75% is the health programs and 90% is the sports program. There is another option where you can set your own percentage to work with. Using one of these programs is a very effective way of exercising.
There is a special recovery button on the console. This measures your overall fitness level by timing how long it takes your heart rate to recover after exercise. This is a great way to test your self over time. This is because with regular exercise after a few weeks you’ll see your condition improve dramatically. All this makes the LifeCore 1050RBs a great recumbent bike for those who want to improve their overall health and or lose weight.

LifeCore Fitness are based in California and have been involved in the fitness equipment industry for over 15 years. This has provided them with great knowledge in knowing what their customers need in a fitness product. They found this out by having a showroom floor where they could hear customers needs and wants. They have used this expertise when building the LifeCore LC985VG elliptical.
The elliptical has 16 resistance levels which are controlled by a knob on the console. You simply rotate it up for a harder ride and or down for an easy gentle ride. Using a combination of hard and gentle is a good way of working out the body. The lower levels can be maintained for weight loss and then the upper levels used briefly for some toning to the legs, thighs and buttocks.
You can either ride and change the settings yourself or you can choose one of the 12 preset programs. These will give you a varied routine by changing the resistance to a preset pattern which is shown on the console. Your progress for calorie burning can be judged on the console as it has a calorie burn read out. There is also a recovery program where the computer analyzes your heart rate for a minute and gives you a rating of how fit you are. This gives you something to aim for.
Another 4 programs we’ve yet to mention are the heart rate control programs. These use the heart rate measured on the handlebars and changes the resistance to keep your heart rate beating at a predetermined level. These levels can be set to be gentle or hard and more information about the levels and the best ones to select can be found on the instruction manual that comes with the elliptical.
The elliptical is a compact design being only 52 inches long so it should fit into any room in your home and obviously it’s best to have a bigger area to work out in. There are transport wheels to help you position where you’d like it. These then lock to stabilize the unit. The elliptical can concentrate on different parts of the legs and buttocks by working out in a certain position all of which is explained in the instruction manual. Overall the LifeCore LC985VG is an impressive elliptical that’s designed to give you years of healthy use.
